Rayovac is a well-known and popular brand of batteries owned by Spectrum Brands. Rayovac was founded by James Bowen Ramsay as the French Battery co. Alfred Landus was its first President. Landus was replaced by C.F.Burgess and the company started churning profit from the year 1910. But a fire broke down the whole production plant at 1915. Burgess left the association to found his own company. Production of the batteries rose during the First World War and by the year 1920, the company started giving huge returns with a large number of employees. The number of employees rose to 1000 by 1931.

In the year 1930, the company name has changed to Ray-O-Vac and new technology was implemented. The new technology of vacuum tubes and electron rays were used which gave better results and the quality of the product has certainly got enhanced. Rayovac changed its name to Spectrum Brands in 2005 after the organization acquired non-battery related business including Remington Products. Rayovac has a wide range of products when it comes to batteries. It manufactures alkaline batteries ranging in size from AAA to 9V. The “Renewal” category is a variety which is rechargeable. Rayovac specializes in hearing aid batteries and lithium photo batteries.
