Freight forwarders – establishes a contact between customer and carrier
Freight forwarders are those companies or persons who organize shipments or transportation of goods for different companies or for any individual person. The freight forwarders may also play the part of carriers. Usually, the freight forwarders play the part of a carrier less as they act as active agents. They are the medium or third party or logistics-provider who dispatches the shipment through the carriers or transportation based on assets and who arranges or books the carriers for transporting the goods from one place to another of a company or an individual.
Freight forwarders, arrange, typically, freight movements to the said destination somewhere outside the country. The freight forwarders who do such type of job are also called as the international-freight forwarders as they have a lot of experience in this field which helps them in processing and preparing the required documents & perform the work in a systematic manner. The typical type of information that the freight forwarders review is commercial-invoice, lading-bill, export-declaration of the shipper & other important documents that the country of import, transshipment or export or the carrier requires. Today maximum of such type of information has been procedure in paperless-environment. The freight forwarders make a deal between the customer and the carriers.
